From Palette to Pillow: Introducing Our Beautiful Shades of Coastal Throw Pillow

 

Some designs begin as a product idea. Others begin as a feeling.

Our new Beautiful Shades of Coastal Throw Pillow began with one of our first digital color palettes: Beautiful Shades of Coastal. This palette has always had a soft place in our shop. It was one of the first color stories we created, and it quickly became one of our bestselling palettes.

It is calm, airy, coastal, and gentle — full of sea-glass blues, shell-inspired neutrals, soft sandy tones, pale greens, and those beautifully muted shades that make a home feel peaceful without feeling plain.

So it felt only natural to take that palette one step further.

A pillow inspired by soft coastal living

The idea behind this pillow was simple: create something that feels like the palette brought to life.

The front of the pillow features a delicate coastal pattern with soft blue hydrangeas, seashells, and botanical details. It has that relaxed beach house feeling, but without becoming too themed or too obvious. We wanted it to feel elegant, fresh, and easy to live with.

The colors are soft and gentle, making the pillow easy to style in a calm living room, a light bedroom, a sunroom, or a coastal-inspired corner of the home.

Why hydrangeas and shells?

Hydrangeas felt like the perfect floral detail for this collection. They bring softness, romance, and that classic coastal charm we love so much. Paired with seashells and airy botanical elements, the design feels connected to the coast without feeling like souvenir-style beach decor.

It is coastal, but refined.

Soft, but not too sweet.

Decorative, but still easy to use every day.

A plain light blue back for easy styling

One of our favorite details is the back of the pillow.

Instead of continuing the pattern on both sides, we chose a plain soft light blue backing. This gives the pillow more versatility and makes it easier to mix with other cushions, throws, linens, and neutral furniture.

You can show the patterned side when you want a more decorative look, or turn it around for a cleaner, calmer blue accent.

That little styling choice makes the pillow feel more finished, more intentional, and easier to live with.
