There are some Christmas decorations you buy because the tree needs filling.

And then there are the ones you unwrap ten years later and immediately remember exactly who you were, where you lived and what life looked like when you first hung them.

Those are the good ones.

The little memory keepers.

And a couple’s first Christmas married definitely deserves one.

The Christmas After “I Do”

The wedding may have lasted a day.

The flowers have gone.

The dress has been packed away.

The photographs are slowly becoming favourite memories.

But then December arrives.

And suddenly there is another first waiting for them.

Their first Christmas as a married couple. 💍🎄

Maybe it is their first tree together with the same surname.

Maybe they are combining two boxes of Christmas decorations for the first time.

Maybe they are discovering that one of them believes a tree needs seventeen strings of lights while the other thinks four is perfectly reasonable.

Marriage. 😂

Whatever their Christmas looks like, there will only ever be one first Christmas married.

Which is exactly why we wanted to make an ornament for it.

Meet Our First Christmas Married Ornament

For this design, we wanted something romantic without turning the Christmas tree into a wedding reception.

So we created two tiny winter birds sitting together on a snow-dusted evergreen branch.

One has a little bow tie.

The other wears a delicate veil and floral crown.

Because apparently even our birds understood the assignment. 😄💍

Around them sit soft winter greenery, pine, delicate leaves, berries, pinecones, tiny golden details and that warm, slightly nostalgic Christmas feeling we love so much.

Underneath comes the part that makes it theirs.

Their own personalization.

That might be:

Sophia & Jason

or

The Harrisons

or

Mr & Mrs Williams

or something else entirely that belongs to them.

Then underneath:

A tiny chapter of their story, hanging from the tree.

Personalized Their Way

We deliberately made the personalization a little more flexible than simply asking for two first names.

Buyers can use names, a family name, initials, Mr & Mrs wording or another short personalization that means something to them.

The only rule is that it must fit on one line, with a maximum of 20 characters including spaces, punctuation and symbols.

That keeps the finished ornament beautifully balanced while still allowing couples to make it feel like theirs.

And Yes… We Made the Back Pretty Too

Of course we did. 😄

Because Christmas ornaments possess a mysterious ability to rotate themselves approximately five minutes after you have carefully positioned them.

So the reverse is not blank.

Instead, it carries a coordinating decorative design with our little newlywed birds nestled among soft winter greenery, berries, pine and delicate golden details.

No repeated personalization.

No giant logo.

Just a proper decorative reverse.

So whether the ornament faces forwards, backwards or decides to spend December slowly spinning on the branch…

…it still looks beautiful.

A Christmas Tree Is Really a Family Charm Bracelet

This idea has become one of our favourite ways of thinking about Christmas trees.

Because when you really look at one, a family tree is rarely just a collection of decorations.

It is a collection of moments.

There might be a baby’s first Christmas ornament.

One from the year you moved house.

Something your child made at school that is objectively terrible but absolutely forbidden from ever being thrown away. 😂

A decoration from a holiday.

One that belonged to a grandparent.

A tiny dog ornament.

A wedding ornament.

And eventually, without really noticing it happening, your Christmas tree becomes a kind of family charm bracelet.

Every ornament represents something.

Someone.

Somewhere.

Some year you never want to forget.

That is exactly where this ornament belongs.

The Newlywed Gift They Won’t Use Up

Newlywed gifts can be tricky at Christmas.

They may already have received kitchenware, towels, glasses and half the contents of a department store for their wedding.

So what do you give them now?

Something small.

Something personal.

Something that doesn't disappear after Christmas dinner.
