A Christmas Pillow Set That Tells a Story

There are Christmas pillows… and then there are Christmas pillows that make it look as if Santa has just flown directly across your sofa.

Which, honestly, feels like exactly the sort of seasonal commitment we can get behind.

This year, we have been working on something very close to our Christmas-loving little hearts: The Winter Welcome Collection. It started as a colour palette — soft winter blues, snowy creams, muted greens, cranberry reds, warm brass, and cosy natural tones — but very quickly became more than that.

Because once the colours started working together, the question became:

What could these colours become?

And apparently, the answer was a three-piece Christmas pillow set with Santa in his sleigh, flying reindeer, falling presents, snowy pine trees, and a cosy cottage waiting at the end of the story.

Not a bad day’s work for a palette.

The first pillow begins the story with Santa flying through a soft winter night sky. His sleigh is filled with parcels, greenery, and a little bit of Christmas Eve urgency — the elegant kind, obviously. No panic. Just a man with a list, a sleigh, and quite a few houses still to visit.

Below him, the snowy pine trees begin the landscape that continues across the full set.

This was one of the most important parts of the design: the pillows needed to work beautifully on their own, but also line up as a little story when placed together. So the winter trees, soft snowy hills, sky, and movement all had to feel connected from one pillow to the next.

The second pillow carries the story forward with the reindeer. They fly across the same winter sky, pulling the sleigh onward, with presents drifting below them.

This is where the set starts to feel playful. It is still soft and pretty, but there is movement. Something is happening. It is Christmas Eve, after all. The reindeer do not have time to hover politely.

The muted red, sage green, soft blue, cream, and warm brass details all come from The Winter Welcome colour story, so even though the design is whimsical, it still feels calm and coordinated.

The third pillow finishes the scene with a cosy winter cottage waiting in the snow. The presents have arrived, the lights are glowing, and the house looks exactly like the kind of place where guests pop in for one cup of tea and accidentally stay until Boxing Day.

These things happen.

This is the feeling we wanted for the collection: warm, welcoming, nostalgic, and a little bit magical. Christmas decor does not always need to be loud to feel festive. Sometimes the softer pieces do the most work — especially when they bring a whole story with them.

The backs of the pillows were designed too, because we wanted the collection to feel finished from every angle. Instead of a plain reverse side, each pillow has a soft snowy winter landscape with pine trees, stars, and gentle sky tones.

It makes the pillows feel calmer, more polished, and easier to style in a real home. Turn them around and they still look beautiful. Very useful for anyone who likes their Christmas decor to behave from both sides.
