There are homes that look beautiful.

And then there are homes that make you want to stay.

The ones where you walk through the door and somehow end up having coffee at the kitchen table. Where the dog has already claimed the best chair. Where there are shoes by the door, a candle burning somewhere nearby, and probably one more pillow on the sofa than anyone technically needs.

Those are our kind of homes.

And that is really where CTRL + PIX + PRT begins.

We design for a feeling.

We love beautiful things. Colour. Pattern. Old houses. Coastal rooms. Cottage gardens. Highland landscapes. Mediterranean summers. Christmas evenings when the tree is glowing and nobody particularly wants to go to bed.

But what fascinates us most isn't simply how a room looks.

It's how it makes you feel.

A certain blue can remind you of summer by the sea.

A warm tartan can make a room feel as though there ought to be a fire crackling somewhere.

Soft neutrals can make a rainy Sunday suddenly seem like a very good reason not to leave the house.

And sometimes one pillow, candle, print or little change of colour somehow makes an entire room feel different.

That is the bit we love.

Perfect isn't really the goal.

We adore beautiful interiors.

But we're not terribly interested in homes that feel as though nobody is allowed to sit down.

A beautiful home can still have laundry waiting upstairs.

There can be fingerprints on the window.

The dog can ruin the carefully arranged cushions approximately four minutes after you arrange them.

And friends who only stopped by for coffee can somehow still be sitting at your table three hours later.

Actually, we think that's when a home gets interesting.

Because homes aren't showrooms.

They're where ordinary life happens.

And ordinary life can be pretty wonderful.

Colour usually starts everything.

Most CTRL + PIX + PRT collections begin with a feeling, a place or a tiny idea that refuses to go away.

What would a summer on the Amalfi Coast feel like in colour?

What colours belong to an old English garden?

What happens when Scottish landscapes, tartan and those wonderfully moody Highland tones find their way into a home?

What does coastal living look like when it isn't simply blue and white?

One colour becomes five.

Five become fifteen.

Then somebody says, “That would look gorgeous on a pillow.”

And things tend to escalate from there.

Before we know it, there is a collection.

We believe beautiful things should tell stories.

Some of our designs are inspired by places.

Some by seasons.

Some by memories.

And occasionally an idea appears simply because it makes us smile.

But they all belong to the same little world.

A world where a home feels warm and welcoming.

Where colour matters.

Where Christmas is still allowed to be magical.

Where guests are encouraged to stay for another cup of coffee — although CTRL + PIX + PRT accepts no responsibility if they eventually forget they have homes of their own.

And where beautiful living doesn't mean perfect living.

It just means creating a place that feels unmistakably yours.

This blog is where we'll share more than our designs.

We'll talk about colour and why it changes a room.

We'll visit the places and moods behind our collections.

We'll share styling ideas, beautiful finds and little ways to make a home feel special.

We'll tell the stories behind things we're creating.

And every now and then, we'll probably talk about dogs stealing chairs, guests refusing to leave and the mysterious way buying one candle appears to result in owning twenty.

Because beautiful homes should never feel too serious.
